Ballard Market Pannier - Caffe Indigo

Seattleites flock to the Ballard neighborhood every Sunday for one of the best farmers’ markets in the Northwest. If you’re rolling up on a bike, this is the perfect pannier to take with you. The padded tote handles make for easy veggie acquisition and, best of all, they convert to adjustable backpack straps for comfortable transport of heavier loads. Two simple yet sturdy pannier clips attach to your rack for the ride home, and a lightweight waterproof base keeps your bag dry from street spray. Interior organization makes the Ballard a great option for casual office commuting as well!

• Padded tote handles that convert to backpack straps
• Front slip pocket and two side pockets
• Interior zip pocket and key clip
• Adjustable interior strap for securing laptop (or kale)
• Zippered top closure
• Exterior clasp to secure handles while riding
• Light loops with reflective detailing
• Rain cover

I had my local bike shop order this for me in Radish and it's FANTASTIC! Huge and roomy, well made and versatile. Looking forward to many trips to the store on my bike in the near future.

I'd been looking for a pannier that could also be used as a backpack, and stumbled upon this in a local bike shop. Bonus points for it being under $100; and compact. Because I have a relatively short torso, most backpacks are too long for me. So far, I like this very much. The only drawback was the plastic clip over the top opening: it was too stiff and brittle, and it would take waaay too long for me to try clip onto the rope loop. Finally solved the problem by replacing the plastic clip with a metal version of swivel-hook clip. Makes the bag slightly heavier, but so much more convenient to clip/unclip. Also wish it had another inner zip pocket, but that's a minor quibble.
Almost-perfect bag!

I got this bag over two years ago for work. It's great looking (I have the dahlia model). It's big and holds a lot. The exterior pockets are useful--one fits a U-lock, another the water bottle, and the third small, oft-used items.

What would make this bag even better for COMMUTING (and I realize it's marketed as a, well, market bag) is a separate laptop sleeve instead of the strap, and perhaps another internal pocket or two for even more organization.

Also, if the Ballard Market Pannier could have a magnetic closure like the discontinued TOTO pannier, I'd like it even more---when you open the flap, the magnets hold the bag upright against my metal desk. VERY convenient.

I keep shopping for the perfect bike bag, and I haven't found it yet. Until I do, I'll keep using the Ballard Market Pannier and the Toto Pannier.
